President Tinubu told the German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier that the reforms that have been implemented by his administration is aimed to bring a notable change in Nigeria.<\/p>\n
It was during a joint meeting that President Tinubu revealed the plans to the German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.<\/p>\n
He said, \u201cI could see from the previous meeting, earlier meeting today that our businessmen and policy makers are very anxious to do business with Germany.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cMine is to continue to give you assurances that our business doors are open and reforms are working very well. These business ranking, that\u2019s what we have discussed.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cWe plan to strengthen the relationship and build partnership that is fulfilling and rewarding to the two countries, people-to-people relationship, and government-to-government facilitation of opportunities and prosperity.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n The German President appreciated President Tinubu for efforts to maintain peace and unity in the ECOWAS region while stating that as a member, Germany acknowledges regional cooperation.<\/p>\n He acknowledged that the investment relations between the two countries are currently improving while stating that Nigeria is Germany\u2019s second largest trading partner in sub Sahara Africa.<\/p>\n In a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President’s focus is on citizens in Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger while assuring that \u201cwisdom and diplomacy will make the difference in reintegrating the countries into ECOWAS.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cOur relationship of mutual respect will continue as we reappraise the situation in the three countries. What I can assure is that we will not give tolerance to unconstitutional government.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cWe will continue to lead by example. We have innocent citizens who are victims of the military. We will continue to explore diplomatic channels to navigate without punishing the innocent people.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cWe will continue to allow free movement and trade. Though the transition programme is not sure or certain, we will not punish the innocent citizens; they are not in possession of power.”<\/em><\/p>\n President Tinubu told the German President that the regional body will give room for democracy saying that, \u201cThis is what ECOWAS will stand for. Whatever is happening in the countries, we are mindful of the wellbeing of the citizens. I don\u2019t want to personalize issues as ECOWAS Chairman.
