A former lawmaker who represented Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has warned the Emir of Kano against supporting domestic violence.<\/p>\n
He made this remark at the National Dialogue Conference on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) which happened at Bayero University in Kano.<\/p>\n
He reacted to the traditional ruler’s advice his daughters whenever they want to get married to retaliate when their husbands hit them.<\/p>\n
In a post, Sani wrote, \u201cHis Highness Sanusi should not be encouraging this kind of domestic violence in the form of slapping and slapping back.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n He further stated that husbands and wives should learn to control themselves whenever they are angry.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen a husband is angry, he should walk out of the house and come back later.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cWhen a husband is upset and shouting loudly, the wife should just keep quiet and allow him to relieve all of his words.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cThe sentence \u2018I\u2019m sorry\u2019 has a magical spirit that can evict the demon in the house.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cIf the man is becoming violent, the wife should protect herself by walking out to his family or her family home.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cThe very day slapping and slapping back becomes the order of a family, the marriage is irreversibly destroyed, even if the couple remains together.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cMost of the participants in those mass weddings are literally divorced wives who believe in this revengeful idea of slapping back their husbands.<\/em><\/p>\n “What is the possibility that when you slap your first husband you won\u2019t slap the second one?\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" A former lawmaker who represented Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has warned the Emir of Kano against supporting domestic violence.
