{"id":17261,"date":"2024-12-06T11:52:53","date_gmt":"2024-12-06T11:52:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.naijatraffic.ng\/news\/?p=17261"},"modified":"2024-12-06T11:52:53","modified_gmt":"2024-12-06T11:52:53","slug":"akande-expresses-concern-over-the-lawsuit-filed-by-babalola","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.naijatraffic.ng\/news\/akande-expresses-concern-over-the-lawsuit-filed-by-babalola\/","title":{"rendered":"Akande expresses concern over the lawsuit filed by Babalola"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Former presidential spokesman, Laolu Akande has expressed concern over the defamation charges suit filed by Aare Afe Babalola against Dele Farotimi.<\/p>\n<p>While speaking on Channels Television\u2019s Sunrise Daily, Akande expressed fear for the reputation of Babalola and accusations against him.<\/p>\n<p>He said, <em>\u201cI am really concerned for Afe\u2019s reputation indeed because the whole world is watching and what the police are doing in the name of Afe Babalola.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>He stated that Babalola has the right to readdress the issues but it should have been through civil lawsuit rather than involving the police.<\/p>\n<p>He further noted it was beneath Babalola regarding his status in the legal community to instigate a police investigation regarding the matter which he described as &#8220;<em>inelegant<\/em>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit was as a result of the defamatory statements made by Dele Farotimi in his book titled <em>Nigeria and Its Criminal Justice System.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Farotimi pleaded not guilty and the court has adjourned the case until December 10, 2024.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Former presidential spokesman, Laolu Akande has expressed concern over the defamation charges suit filed by Aare Afe Babalola against Dele Farotimi.
