The authorities of the Nigerian Army has expressed disappointment over the reduction of resources despite the high rate of recruitments to bridge the manpower gap.<\/p>\n
This statement was disclosed by the Acting Chief of Army Staff, Olufemi Oluyede, a Lieutenant-General at Army headquarters, Abuja when the Senate Committee on Army led by Abdulaziz Musa Yar\u2019Adua paid him a condolence visit.<\/p>\n
He said, \u201cOver time, we\u2019ve had situations where the resources that are attributed to the Nigerian Army keep dwindling. So, I think this is a very good forum for me to appeal that maybe in considering next year\u2019s budget, a few very important issues should be noted.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cFirst, the Nigerian Army, for instance, in the last couple of years, we\u2019ve been recruiting about 15,000 personnel. But I can tell you that not a single support has been given in terms of the accommodation.”<\/em><\/p>\n He expressed concerns on how the soldiers and officers would live and find accomodations when they return to barracks.<\/p>\n The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army, Senator Yar\u2019Adua encouraged the Acting COAS to continue with the legacy of the late Army Chief, Lt.-Gen.
