Plateau Government has made plans to provide free medical care for 200,000 residents which consists of the screening for non-communicable diseases such as hypertension and diabetes.<\/p>\n
It was disclosed on Monday by the Commissioner for Health, Dr Cletus Shukuk, during the official launch of \u201cProject 10 Million; Know Your Number, Control Your Number.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n He further noted that the programme was in line with the national campaign of the Nigeria Health Commissioners Forum to reduce the high rate of non-communicable diseases.<\/p>\n He emphasized on the importance of public awareness on hypertension and diabetes that will serve as a guide to educate the public.<\/p>\n He said that the project will aid in the provision of immediate counseling, referral and link of the diagnosed patients to treatment centers.<\/p>\n \u201cThe project would support the creation of a hypertension and diabetes register and, in turn, improve data collection, which would enhance health care policies and planning.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cThe screening will be conducted in the 17 local government areas and will be done in selected primary and secondary health care facilities.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cI wish to call on the people of the state to avail themselves for the screening exercise to enable them to know their blood pressure and blood sugar level status.”<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Plateau Government has made plans to provide free medical care for 200,000 residents which consists of the screening for non-communicable diseases such as hypertension and diabetes.
