{"id":15558,"date":"2024-11-12T13:05:39","date_gmt":"2024-11-12T13:05:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.news.naijatraffic.ng\/?p=15558"},"modified":"2024-11-12T13:05:39","modified_gmt":"2024-11-12T13:05:39","slug":"kaduna-state-teachers-earn-27-higher-than-other-civil-servants","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.naijatraffic.ng\/news\/kaduna-state-teachers-earn-27-higher-than-other-civil-servants\/","title":{"rendered":"Kaduna State Teachers earn 27% higher than other civil servants"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Kaduna State Teachers Service Board (TSB) Chairman, Adamu Makade has disclosed that the teachers in the state earn 27% higher than other civil servants in other sectors.<\/p>\n<p>He revealed this at a workshop on Teachers Issues in Conflict and Protracted Crisis Settings: <strong>Documenting the Effectiveness of the Kaduna Teacher Reforms in the state.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>He explained that there is nothing wrong with the education sector in the country rather they should be focused on the quality of the teachers.<\/p>\n<p>He noted there should be reforms to address the recruitment, deployment, and retention of teachers in the state.<\/p>\n<p>He stated that measures are being implemented to ensure the recruitment of quality and competent teachers are retained in the state.<\/p>\n<p>He said<em>, \u201cFor instance, if you are a teacher on a particular salary grade level and step, compared to your colleague, who is not a teacher but in the same grade level and step, you will discover that teachers earn about 27% higher than other civil servants.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>A University don and Regional Research Director for the International Rescue Committee (IRC) in Nigeria and South Sudan, Professor Oladele Akogun stated that in order to establish a sustainable environment for everyone with a good education sector, teachers should be treated better than medical doctors.<\/p>\n<p>He said, <em>\u201cA situation where the country has a beautiful policy of free and compulsory education up to 18 years, but in practice, it is not implemented, cannot yield the desired result.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kaduna State Teachers Service Board (TSB) Chairman, Adamu Makade has disclosed that the teachers in the state earn 27% higher than other civil servants in other sectors.
