In an emotional conversation on “With Chude,” Ufuoma McDermott shared her heartbreaking experiences, including the loss of her younger brother to chronic kidney disease and her own subsequent diagnosis with the same condition.<\/p>\n
Ufuoma McDermott revealed that her 12-year health battle escalated, with a 2023 diagnosis of stage 3 kidney disease, and a recent progression to stage 4, the final stage of the disease.<\/p>\n
In a heartfelt online video, Ufuoma McDermott, who had taken a social media hiatus amid her health struggles, opened up about hitting rock bottom, but finding the will to keep going, driven by her desire to live for her children.<\/p>\n
Going on Ufuoma McDermott revealed that she disregarded her doctor’s orders to rest, instead continuing to work, which led to a debilitating consequence: she was bedridden and unable to move for six months.<\/p>\n
“First, she lost her younger brother to chronic kidney disease.<\/em><\/p>\n Then last year, Ufuoma McDermott was also diagnosed with Stage 3 kidney disease \u2013 after battling with it for 12 years.<\/em><\/p>\n She was told to slow down at work and rest. But she thought she had more time and negotiated with her doctors.<\/em><\/p>\n That delay turned out to be costly.<\/em><\/p>\n She was shortly diagnosed of Stage 4 kidney disease.<\/em><\/p>\n Stage 4.<\/em><\/p>\n That\u2019s the final stage.<\/em><\/p>\n And she says it was a result of drug abuse \u2013 ingesting too many painkillers.<\/em><\/p>\n Thus began a battle for her life, where there was zero room for error. For 6 months, she couldn\u2019t move. She couldn\u2019t work. She couldn\u2019t add weight.
