The Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, has officially asked the public to refer to him as \u201cHis Imperial Majesty\u201d instead of \u201cHis Royal Majesty.\u201d<\/p>\n
He made this statement on his post on Facebook where he explained in details the importance and historical meaning of Oluwo throne.<\/p>\n
Oba Akanbi added, \u201cThe stool of Oluwo commands the respect of the direct blood of Oduduwa. The Oluwo stool is a crown from inception.\u201d<\/p>\n
He highlights the uniqueness of his title, pointing out that, unlike many Yoruba towns where rulers ascend from the position of Baale (Duke) to Oba, Iwo has always had an Oluwo. The historical background highlights the distinctiveness of the Oluwo title.<\/p>\n
He added, \u201cOluwo should always be addressed as His Imperial Majesty, not His Royal Majesty. Any correspondence without proper address will not be honoured.\u201d<\/p>\n
He compared the significance of titles to military ranks, stating, \u201cNo General will love to be called a sergeant; likewise, no Doctor will answer the name of a nurse.\u201d<\/p>\n
He pointed out that his position as a ruler has a significant role and he disclosed that he was crowned over 30 Obas during his reign.<\/p>\n
