Ogun High Court dismisses lawsuit filed to shift LG election

The Ogun State High Court in Abeokuta has dismissed the lawsuit filed by sixteen political parties seeking to delay the local government election scheduled for November 16.

This decision was as a result of how the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC) announced a date without consulting them.

Justice T.A. Okunsokan stated that there is no constitutional law that states that the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC) must inform other political parties before fixing the scheduled date.

The court also dismissed the party’s proposal of shifting that election because it is the same day with the Ondo State governorship election.
