New Minister of Education reverses 18-year age limit

Dr. Morufu Olatunji Alausa, the new Minister of Education, has reversed the rule that was introduced by Professor Tahir Mamman that a child must be of 18 years and above for University admission.

It was after that last month’s cabinet reshuffle that Dr. Olatunji Alausa became the new Minister of Education.

He further explained that such policy was detrimental to the Federal Government’s efforts towards education which would make it unsustainable for the sector.

He highlighted that the 16-year should be the age limit and it is mandatory for the children.

He noted that he has plans to change the education sector of Nigeria as the focus is on practical learning. He said that the education system should be 80% practical and 20% theoretical.

Recall that Dr. Alausa previously served as the Minister of State for Health.
