May Edochie, the estranged wife of actor Yul Edochie, set the record straight on certain aspects of her life, addressing misconceptions.
In an interview with comedian Ayo Makun, May Edochie, a mother of four who suffered the loss of her first son last year, clarified her stance on marriage. Despite her own tumultuous relationship with Yul Edochie, she emphasized that she is a strong advocate for marriage and not promoting divorce or separation, contrary to misconceptions that she’s influencing other women to leave their husbands.
May Edochie emphasized her deep value for family and marriage, considering them the foundation of society. She acknowledged the vital role family plays in our existence, stating that without it, she and many others wouldn’t be alive.
“Some men see it like I am misleading their wives. You know why because I love family, I love marriage, and I see it as the basis for family. Without family, there would be no you or me. I am not in any way advocating divorce or separation; let me categorically state here that I am not an advocate of divorce”.
May Edochie revealed that she prefers to handle her personal issues privately, rather than sharing them on social media. Fortunately, she has a strong support network consisting of her family, close friends, and online community, which helps her navigate challenging times with discretion and emotional backing.
“Having a positive mindset is key for me. I embrace authenticity, I do not take my personal issues to social media. I have this big support system: my family and friends; they are always there for me when I need them, and then my online family members. They are like a pillar; they are reliable and dependable, and they’re ready to give it back to anyone who displays their insincerity. If you choose to display your insensitivity and when it gets over the board, they come for you”.
Yul Edochie’s decision to marry his colleague, Judy Austin, marked a turning point in his marriage to May Edochie, ultimately leading to their separation. In response, May Edochie initiated divorce proceedings and obtained a restraining order, prohibiting Yul from entering their former shared residence. Additionally, she gained full custody of their children, formally establishing the boundaries of their separated lives.
