The Humanity Development and Empowerment Organisation (HDEO), popularly known as the Lenders Association has pleaded with the federal government to pay back N12 billion loans that was deducted from civil servants’ salaries and pay slips.
The outgoing National President, Dr. Osita Nebolisa, during Abuja leadership handover ceremony, disclosed that the loans are still outstanding.
He told the new executives led by National President Mr. Dele Apanisile to settle the matter with the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation and the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS).
He said, “One of our most pressing challenges remains the recovery of over N12 billion in deducted but unremitted funds. I appeal for unified support to retrieve these funds and prevent future losses through the IPPIS deduction system.”
He further noted that during his tenure, the founder of Visa Microfinance Bank Ltd, Dr Osita Nebolisa stated that over N6.2 billion loans were given to 2,400 federal civil servants from November 2022 to November 2024.
Also, in 2023, he signed a Service Level Agreement (SLA) with the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF), which is a system that ensures that equal loan is given to everyone while it protects their interest.
