Reports have it that some states except Niger and Kwara have experienced total power outage and they had no light throughout. They include: Kaduna, Kano, Jigawa, Gombe, and Katsina.

The total power outage also affected Sokoto, Zamfara, Bauchi, Yobe, Borno, Adamawa, Taraba, Niger, Plateau, Nasarawa, Kogi, and Benue.

The power outage affecting the northern states was triggered by vandalism that damaged Shiroro-Kaduna transmission line, which is the main power supply line to the north.
