Ganduje, wife scheduled to appear in court over alleged bribery

On Thursday, Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), his wife Hafsat, and six other individuals are scheduled to appear in court. They are facing charges related to alleged bribery, diversion, and misappropriation of funds. The court served them a notice of trial through substituted means, following the court’s order.

After obtaining an order from the Kano State High Court on June 5, 2024, the state was authorized to serve the seven respondents, including Abdullahi Ganduje, his wife Hafsat, and six others, through substituted service. This alternative method was carried out by publishing advertisements in two national newspapers on June 6, 2024.

The current situation arose subsequent to the notice of trial being served on the respondents in accordance with the court’s directive for substituted means of service.

Abdullahi Ganduje, his wife Hafsat, Abubakar Bawuro, Umar Abdullahi Umar, Jibrilla Muhammad, Safari Textiles Ltd, and Lesage General Enterprises are the respondents in the case. The order was granted by Justice Amina Adamu following an application by Zahradeen Kofar-Mata, representing the state government and lead prosecution counsel, Ya’u Adamu.

“This court grants the application for substituted service because it is necessary to ensure the respondents are duly notified of the proceedings,” stated Justice Adamu during the court session.

“The matter is adjourned till July 11, 2024, for hearing, and all parties involved are ordered to present their fiat to the court.

The court hearing is scheduled to start at 10 am on Thursday at the Kano State High Court.
