The federal government has plans of extending the National Emergency Medical Services and Ambulance System to encompass Kaduna State’s Ministry of Health for easier access to the rural communities during emergency.
It was during the stakeholder workshop in kaduna that the National Programme Manager of the emergency system, Dr. Saidu Ahmed, stated the development of implementing Rural Ambulance and Transportation Services.
Dr.Saidu Ahmed,also Senior Medical Adviser to the Minister of Health highlighted the goals of the system which ensures that emergency medical support is given to everyone and toll-free number, 112, is always active in case of emergency.
Once the number is dailed, an ambulance is dispatched to the place to transport the patients to the nearest healthcare.
He urged the private ambulance owners to register with government to aid in the development. He noted that this initiative would aid in the improvement of healthcare and job opportunities.
