DopeNation is made up of twin brothers Michael Boafo and Tony Oboafo, also known as B2 and Twist.

They are popular for producing hit songs for artists like Shatta Wale, Joey B, EL, Ebony Reigns, Eazzy, Mr Eazi, and Pappy Kojo. In addition to their production work, they have also established themselves as successful artists.

EARLY LIFE AND EDUCATION

Originally from Accra and raised in the Abeka community, the twins later moved to Takoradi for their education, where their love for music flourished.

After completing their studies in Takoradi, they returned to Accra to pursue higher education at the University of Ghana and Ghana Technology University College.

CAREER

Their journey into music production began in 2012 under the guidance of E.L in Accra, where they honed their skills.

DopeNation has made a notable impact on the Ghanaian music scene, producing tracks for a variety of artists, including E.L, Shatta Wale, Joey B, Pappy Kojo, Eazzy, Flowking Stone, Olamide, Tekno, and Fameye.

In 2021, DopeNation expanded their efforts into artist discovery and development by introducing visually impaired vocalist Adelaide The Seer to the music industry.

As her official producers, they released singles like “Wire Me” and “What a God” to highlight her talent and potential.

DopeNation began their musical journey with the launch of their debut single, “Bebia Ye Shi,” in 2016, followed by the popular track “Uh Huh” in 2017.

They achieved significant recognition with their self-produced single, “Eish,” released in April 2018.

Their collaboration with Nigerian artist Olamide and DJ Enimoney on the song “Naami” earned them the prestigious Sound City MVP Group of the Year award in Africa.

In 2021, they teamed up with Ghanaian dance duo Dancegod Llyod and Afrobeast from DWP Academy to create a successful EP titled “Music and Dance.”

Their skills as music producers were acknowledged with a nomination for the Music Producer Honor of the Year at the 2017 Ghana Music Honors Awards.

Since their first release in 2016, DopeNation has consistently produced hit songs and albums, solidifying their status as a formidable presence in the music industry.

Their latest singles, including “zormizor,” “some way,” and “jakpa,” all released in 2024, further reinforce their reputation for crafting chart-topping tracks.

PERSONAL LIFE

In a 2019 interview in Takoradi, B2, one half of the duo DopeNation, shared that their father, who was the principal of Takoradi Technical Institute at the time, disapproved of their musical ambitions and labeled them as “stubborn.”

Additionally, B2 noted that they have not seen their father since leaving Takoradi.
