EARLY LIFE AND EDUCATION
Daddy Lumba, faced significant personal tragedy early in life with the death of his father, Owoahene Kwadwo Fosuh, a teacher, followed by the loss of his mother, Comfort Gyamfi, also a teacher, affectionately known as Ama Saah.
The deaths of his parents left him orphaned, and the passing of his mother in 2001 in Kumasi was particularly devastating for him, as she had been his steadfast source of support and strength.
CAREER
At the age of 16, Daddy Lumba began his musical journey as the choir leader at Juaben Senior High School from 1983 to 1984, guided by his music teacher, Christabel.
His love for music grew as he formed the Lumba Brothers group with friends Yaw and Kwabena, along with his girlfriend, Theresa Abebrese, during his time at Juaben SHS.
After finishing school, Lumba, supported by Theresa, moved to Germany in search of better opportunities.
It was there that he met Ernest Nana Acheampong, a key figure who introduced him to highlife music, a genre he had not previously encountered.
They reformed the Lumba Brothers with the intention of releasing an album in 1986.
However, due to financial difficulties, the album’s release was postponed until 1989, with Lumba’s wife, Akosua Serwaa, stepping in to produce the album titled Yɛɛyɛ Aka Akwantuo Mu.
Since then, Daddy Lumba has built an impressive discography of 33 albums, featuring celebrated titles such as Aben Wɔha, Awosuɔ, Obi Ate Me So Buɔ, Sika Asɛm, and Ebi Se Ɛyɛ Aduro.
