Andrew Wynne, a British national wanted by the Nigeria Police for supposedly threatening to overthrow President Bola Tinubu’s government, has stated that he will not be attending the police’s invitation.
The Police had offered a N20 million reward for Wynne and a Nigerian, Lukcy Obiyan, for allegedly supporting the recent #EndBadGovernance or #Hunger protests to destabilize President Tinubu’s administration.
Despite Wynne denying the claims made by the Police, he has decided not to go to the police as requested. The British man said that he fears he would face torture and death if he goes to Nigeria in response to the police invitation.
Wynne mentioned that the Nigeria Police never formally invited him and believes he would not survive if he surrendered to them.
Wynne stated, “The police say, if I am innocent I should give myself up. I am innocent. Like Yomi, for example, Yomi is completely innocent, give myself up and be tortured?
“I mean, it’s beyond fear, isn’t it? Yomi is my son and he’s completely innocent and was tortured for three days.
“And the police expect me to come back to Nigeria and be tortured? My fear is I would not be alive. It’s not about fear of torture and being beaten up by the police, it’s fear for my life. I don’t think I would survive the year if I came back to Nigeria.”
